Mmmmm...everything in the kitchen!!!

So I guess I am a foodie.

Nothing really to be ashamed about there, but I have sort of an ingredient fetish! It's kind of a problem. I figure that my blog would be the best place to talk about it, so here goes-...

I go to at least 3 different grocery stores to do every 2 weeks of grocery shopping for us. When I go to the market, I am always looking for deals, but the real reason that I go to all of the different stores is that I love to be inspired with all kinds of different ingredients. I have to shop by myself, it drives my wife crazy! It's mostly because I watch a lot of cooking shows and read a lot of recipes, I mean you gotta eat, but sometimes it gets a little out of hand!

Today I found this awesome purple cabbage! (see pic) So, I buy the cabbage, and I become obsessed with making a garlic roasted cabbage with like white truffle olive oil, and a sprinkling of coarse ground star anise. You gotta also sprinkle it with a little bit of coarse smoked salt when it's cooked yadda, yadda, yadda!(let me know if you would like the whole recipe) It sounds pretty reasonable so far I know, but wait! Now is when I think of all of the stuff that I would wanna serve it with...

I start thinking of a meal theme, hmmm purple cabbage, (I loved their first album btw!) Now, do I go the pork route to be fusion style, or do I stick with like a brisket (now I need brining salt) or a london broil? I am gonna need some crusty bread, and some Fava beans marinated in some oil, and tomato sauce. (see pic) What about appetizer and dessert?

I just went from a $3.00 head of cabbage to about $70.00 worth of ingredients just to make dinner!!! This is where I start to think I am crazy... I mean, it's not like you are going to buy all of those ingredients every time you wanna cook, but...

I really think the Food Network has ruined me...

Live Long and Prosper

I Just started my own company today. Needless to say, I am quite excited! I have always been an entrepreneur of sorts, though admittedly probably more on the guerrilla side of things. Once you go through all of the red tape that is required to start a business today, it will truly make you rethink everything you are. I remember some of my first business ventures as a child. Toy sales, lemonade stands, and creating my own 3 man acting troupe (Age 6!) I certainly don't remember filling out all this paperwork. Nor did I have to talk to the city inspector! He really shouldn't go out of the house dressed THAT WAY! At one point, (I think I was 9) I was rolling around with a mobile lemonade stand! OSHA would've flipped!!! When I was a kid, my idea of consulting with an accountant was simply telling my father the next hair-brained idea that required me an additional allowance. It's funny, I am a lot like that to this day, but now it is my wife that has to listen to me blather on about potential ideas. She is a much better listener, I must say! Some of the best ideas come when we collaborate!
Yes, I always considered myself a freelance salesman. Hawking whatever product that attracted my attention at any given point in my life.(does anyone remember the Mood Lights?) People who have known me, can attest to my consummate showmanship. Sometimes with presentations bordering on the slightly twisted. You really can't take me out! Once I am passionate about something, I have to tell the world!

I always considered myself hip about everything that's popular, and in the now. Whether it's penny candy, or pop culture.I am always seeking the perfect balance of customer service. I think that understanding "lifestyle" is the key to providing excellent (sublime) customer service. The main rule that I have followed throughout all of my years of being "in business" was to listen to what clients are seeking, and then, figure out a plan to accomplish what they desire in the most creative, and intuitive way possible.

I love the art of collaboration, and it is one of my favorite ways to communicate with anyone! My business is interior design consultation, and furniture specifier. I have worked for many others in the industry bordering on 25 years, so I finally decided to go out on my own. (Know anybody that needs a couch?)

I've also recently started to appreciate blogs, so I thought it would be a good thing to take a stab at one myself. I have always enjoyed writing. I probably won't write about business too much. I intend to blog about life, and whatever is on my mind at the current moment. Assuredly though, I will post pictures of cool, and favorite things. if it inspires you to want to buy some of these items, don't blame me! ;)

Life is funny, all you can hope for is that you make the most of it, and live long and prosper!
